University Health Sets October Job Fairs for Nurses, Allied Health and Police in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, TX — University Health is putting three job fairs on the calendar over the next two weeks, and each one is built for a different kind of worker. Experienced registered nurses get the first shot on Thursday, October 8. Therapists, lab scientists and other allied health professionals follow on Monday, October 12. Licensed police officers close it out early on Saturday, October 17. All three are on the Northwest Side, and all three ask you to register before you show up.
The county hospital system is staffing up for two new hospitals, and these job fairs are aimed at people who already have the license and the experience.

Why University Health Is Hiring Now
University Health is the public hospital system for Bexar County, and it is in the middle of a major expansion. As Texas Public Radio reported in August, the system told county leaders that its Retama Hospital on the Northeast Side is set to open in February 2027 with 162 beds, and its Palo Alto Hospital on the South Side is set to follow in April 2027 with 227 beds. University Health said it is recruiting roughly 450 people for each of those two hospitals.
The system has said its hiring events for the new campuses have drawn plenty of applicants, so expect competition. Show up registered, on time and with your license information in hand.
Experienced RN Job Fair: Thursday, October 8
1:00 – 3:00 PM | 6200 Northwest Parkway, San Antonio (entrance behind the building)
This one is for registered nurses with experience. University Health lists openings in medical-surgical, ICU, the emergency department, the operating room, float pool, and labor and delivery. The listing is specific that you go in through the entrance behind the building, not the front. Register on the events page before you go.
Same day, different event: the Alamo H.I.R.E.S. Inclusive Job Fair is also on October 8. If you're not a nurse, that's likely the better fit.
Allied Professions Job Fair: Monday, October 12
1:00 – 3:00 PM | 5800 Farinon Drive, San Antonio (main entrance by the flagpoles)
The widest net of the three. University Health is recruiting physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists and medical lab scientists, along with dialysis RNs and hemodialysis techs, experienced surgical techs, and experienced cardiac cath lab technologists and RNs. Farinon Drive is home to University Health's human resources offices on the Northwest Side. The event is meant for licensed professionals and experienced clinicians, not people just starting out.
Police Officer Job Fair: Saturday, October 17
7:00 – 10:00 AM | 5800 Farinon Drive, San Antonio (main entrance by the flagpoles)
The Bexar County Hospital District runs its own police department, and it is holding an early Saturday morning job fair for officers. The bar is clear: you need a TCOLE license, or you need to be enrolled in a police academy now.
⚠️ Read This Before You Drive Over
- Registration is required for all three. Each event has its own sign-up form on the University Health events page. Don't count on walking in.
- Experience is the filter. The RN and allied fairs are for experienced, licensed people. New grads and career changers should watch the system's job postings instead.
- The police fair is license-only. No TCOLE license and no academy enrollment means this one isn't for you yet.
- Two different addresses. The RN fair is on Northwest Parkway. The allied and police fairs are on Farinon Drive. Check before you leave.
University Health also lists interview scheduling for experienced floor techs and floor tech specialists for Retama Hospital on October 6. No time or location is posted; registration and experience are required to be selected for an interview, and the sign-up is on the same events page.
