SAN ANTONIO, TX — Fall is the heaviest hiring stretch on the Alamo City calendar, and this year the timing is unusually good. IEM just announced a $200 million plant at Brooks with as many as 3,000 jobs behind it. JCB is finishing a South Side facility that will hold more than 1,500. Toyota is building a second assembly line. None of that hiring happens through a press release, it happens in rooms like the ones below.

Nine events between September 8 and November 9; six have already taken place. Only the November 9 fair takes an organizer ticket. Here they are in order.

CNA Training Recruitment Session — Tuesday, September 8

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Workforce Solutions Alamo, Medical Center area

This event has passed.

The healthcare on-ramp for people without a degree. Certified nursing assistant training is how you get a hospital badge in the Medical Center, and from there the ladder runs through LVN and RN roles at Methodist, University Health, Baptist and Christus Santa Rosa. Free, and the career center itself is the front door to every other Workforce Solutions Alamo service. Career Ready Workshop: Group Mock Interviews — Wednesday, September 16

This event has passed.

Not a hiring event, a practice round, and it lands the day before the biggest fair on this list. If you have been out of the market a while and the thought of a panel interview turns your stomach, this is a low-stakes place to get the reps in. San Antonio Career Fair — Thursday, September 17

The big one. Choice Career Fairs runs a general-market event with hiring managers from dozens of area companies across sales, customer service, healthcare, insurance, logistics and management. AGIF National Veterans Outreach Program Monthly Job Fair — Thursday, September 17

This event has passed.

The American GI Forum has been doing veteran employment work in San Antonio for decades, and this monthly fair is one of the steadiest recruiting events in the city. Free, veteran-focused, and downtown, which makes it easy to pair with the DoubleTree fair the same day. Confirm public eligibility with the organizer if you are not a veteran, since that varies month to month.

Alamo HIRES NDEAM 2026 — Thursday, October 8

Built around National Disability Employment Awareness Month, this inclusive job and resource fair brings employers who have actually committed to accessible hiring, alongside the service organizations that help make it stick. Veterans In Automotive Career Event — Wednesday, October 21

1:00 – 6:00 p.m. | Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland

Dealership groups and automotive employers recruiting transitioning service members and veterans, free for job seekers. This one is on base, so plan for access requirements and contact the organizer ahead of time about a visitor pass. Do not roll up to the gate at 12:55 hoping it works out.

Macy's Holiday Hiring Day — Thursday, October 22

Times vary by store | Macy's at The Shops at La Cantera, North Star Mall and Ingram Park Mall

Macy's, Inc. is holding in-store hiring days nationwide for seasonal part-time jobs, and October 22 is the second of three, with one more on November 19. There is no registration and no ticket: apply online at macysJOBS, then walk in. Macy's has not published a San Antonio headcount, and start times differ by location, so call your store before you go. The 15th annual edition of the statewide veterans hiring fair, run locally by Workforce Solutions Alamo on the old Kelly Air Force Base grounds at Port San Antonio. Veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses get the room to themselves from 9 to 10 a.m.; at 10 it opens to every job seeker. Employers attend by invitation and no roster has been published yet. What to Bring to Any of Them

  • Printed resumes, more than you think you need
  • Photo ID, and extra lead time plus a visitor pass for the Lackland event
  • Your printed or phone ticket for the November 9 fair
  • Licenses, certifications and clearance level if you have them
  • A short self-introduction you have actually said out loud
  • Open availability you can state plainly, including nights and weekends if you mean it
  • A notebook, so you can write down names and follow up within 48 hours

What It Means for Job Seekers

The San Antonio and New Braunfels metro added 10,100 jobs over the year through July, with unemployment at 4.7 percent and professional services, trade and transportation carrying most of the growth. Manufacturing gained ground month over month, which is exactly what you would expect from a region with three major plant projects underway at once. Are San Antonio job fairs free?

Every event on this list from September 8 through October 21 is free for job seekers, and Macy's October 22 hiring day takes no registration or ticket. The November 9 Hiring Red, White & You! fair requires a ticket from the organizer's registration page, so reserve one ahead. Ticket prices you may see listed elsewhere for other fairs are usually for employers buying booth space, not for candidates walking in.

Which event has the most employers?

The September 17 San Antonio Career Fair at the DoubleTree by Hilton Airport was the broadest general-market fair on this list, and it has passed. Of the events still ahead, October 21 is aimed at veterans in automotive, October 22 is a walk-in hiring day at Macy's stores, and November 9 opens to all job seekers after a veterans' priority hour.

Do I need to register in advance?

Most of these accept walk-ins, but registering ahead is smart. The November 9 fair requires a ticket for entry. Registering gets you on the organizer's list, often gets you in ahead of the line, and some events use the registration count to decide how many recruiters to send. Check the organizer's page a few days out, since venues and times occasionally shift.

Can I get on base for the October 21 event at Lackland?

Base access requires valid identification and, for most civilians, a visitor pass processed at the visitor control center. Contact the organizer well before October 21 to confirm exactly what you need and how long it takes.
